ANGUS BENFIELD is an Australian-born, multi-award-winning director, producer, actor and writer and is the Founder and CEO of film production and distribution company LAMA ENTERTAINMENT and production company BRIDGE & ACORN ENTERTAINMENT


Movies have been a lifelong passion for Angus, starting with an interest in special FX at 8, then working as a production runner on commercials at 14, he later went on to train as an actor at The Actor's Centre at 20 and landed the lead role in Australian feature film ‘Lex & Rory’ straight out of acting school.

 

Angus has since worked in all major departments of the film industry, as an actor, screenwriter, producer, director and distributor (theatrical & non-theatrical), as well as in financing. Angus has successfully managed multiple film production companies in the US, Australia and New Zealand along with working as a head of department at the New York Film Academy.

 

Angus began BRIDGE & ACORN ENTERTAINMENT in 2017 and  LAMA ENTERTAINMENT in 2019 in Los Angeles, specializing in independent distribution and production, uniquely creating content from script to screen and producing noteworthy films with impacting messages that inspire and entertain. 


Angus is the director of The Great Turkey Town Miracle (2023), Yellow Bird (Brian Doyle-Murray, Kathy Garver, 2023), Heaven (Eric Roberts, 2020) for which he won best director at the Canadian International Film Festival in 2020, Trust (2018) and Wait Up Harriet (2006) and is attached to direct several upcoming features in 2023. 


Angus has also produced films The Post (2023), Purgatory Station (Bob Gunton, Sean O’Bryan, 2023), and written and produced films Motorvation (Judy Norton, 2022), Heaven (Eric Roberts, 2020), Trust (2018), High Rollers (2019) and The Holy Roller (Mark Hadlow, 2010), as well as producing Meet Me in Miami (Carlos Ponce, 2005), with other projects currently in development. 


Angus is also an accomplished, award winning, and incredibly versatile actor having acted in an extensive number of roles in film, television and theater.


Angus moved to LA with his family in 2017 to star as lovable motivational speaker Robert Melvin alongside The Waltons Judy Norton in the feature film Motorvation, for which he won Best Actor at the Canadian Cinematography Awards and the New York Cinematography Awards in 2020, and at the Eastern Europe International Movie Awards in 2021 and was released throughout the US in May 2022. In 2019 Angus starred as the illegal casino owner Willy Hollingsworth on CBS's NCIS: Los Angeles alongside LL Cool J, Eric Christian Olsen and Chris O'Donnell and played real-life lawyer Paul Hoffman in the feature film A Fire Within. Angus starred as lead Jonathan Stone alongside Hollywood icon Eric Roberts in the feature film Heaven, which was released throughout the US in October 2020.


Most recently, Angus co-starred as Steve Lagos in the 2022 Shonda Rhimes American drama miniseries for Netflix, Inventing Anna alongside Julia Garner,and Anna Chlumsky, as lead Jake Rush in the award winning 2023 feature film Yellow Bird featuring Brian Doyle-Murray and Kathy Garver. Also in 2023 Angus starred as lead Connor McCloud in the feature film The Great Turkey Town Miracle alongside Cameron Arnett, due out in Thanksgiving of 2023, lead Joe Fortune in the feature film Purgatory Station alongside Bob Gunton and Sean O’Bryan, due out late 2023/early 2024, and lead Jet Sanders in The Post, also due out late 2023/early 2024, with casting confirmed as multiple lead rolls in several features filming in 2023.
